The Reception year is where a child’s journey as a reader really begins. Rich conversations, stories, rhymes, vocabulary and high-quality early literacy experiences all help to build the foundations children need to become confident, successful readers.

At Jerry Clay English Hub, we are delighted to offer fully funded support for schools to strengthen early language and literacy provision in Reception. Our aim is to work alongside Reception teachers, Early Years leaders and senior leaders to build on what is already working well and identify practical, evidence-informed ways to make provision even stronger.

Through expert professional development, tailored school support and access to funding, we can help you develop an ambitious approach to early language and literacy that makes a lasting difference for your children.

Our Reception Offer

Depending on the needs of your school, support can include:

  • Free, high-quality CPD focused on early language and literacy in Reception;
  • A detailed in-school audit of your early language and literacy provision for schools that would benefit from more intensive support;
  • Bespoke advice and guidance to help you identify priorities and strengthen practice;
  • Financial support for agreed resources, where appropriate, following the audit; and
  • Ongoing support to help you embed improvements and create sustainable, high-quality practice.
