Holly Dyson is an experienced teacher and school leader with a wealth of experience across both primary and secondary education, giving her a strong understanding of how children’s reading develops throughout their educational journey.

Holly began her career in secondary education, where she worked as an English teacher, developing her passion for literature, language and the transformative impact that reading can have on young people. She later moved into primary education, where she held a range of teaching and leadership responsibilities, including serving as a Deputy Headteacher.

This experience across both phases has given Holly a valuable perspective on the importance of building strong foundations in early reading while ensuring that pupils continue to develop their fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and enjoyment of reading as they progress through school.

A keen advocate for reading, Holly is passionate about creating strong reading cultures and ensuring that every child is equipped with the skills and confidence to access the curriculum and enjoy reading. Through her work with Jerry Clay English Hub, she is committed to working alongside schools and teachers to strengthen reading provision and improve outcomes for pupils.
